Profile - Tracy Cameron

Tracy Cameron (née Neave) founded ICAN Models and Talent in Queenstown in 2000, and now supplies talent from all around New Zealand for film, television, promotional and media work.

Tracy, who was raised on Stewart Island, attended St Hilda’s from 1981-1985, boarding at Tolcarne. After leaving school Tracy modelled part time for Vanity Walk Model Agency in Dunedin, then in Auckland, and later for Vivien’s Model Agency in Sydney. She also did some tutoring, booking and choreography for Vanity Walk alongside this. She appeared in magazines such as Fashion Quarterly, and in 1988-89 she was a finalist in the Wella Miss Universe New Zealand pageant.

After some time on her OE in London and travelling the world, Tracy returned to Dunedin and became Co Director of Vanity Walk Talent Agency with Margaret Farry-Williams. It was during this time that Queenstown started to become an attractive destination for the overseas film industry, and the agency supplied extras for films such as The Vertical Limit and the start of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Seeing potential for a Queenstown-based agency, Tracy began ICAN and developed a database of talent, from babies to grandparents, of all ethnicities, in the region to supply to the film industry. ICAN has over 3000 people on their books today, primarily in the South Island, and is always looking for others to join their database, as there are always opportunities for work as extras. Most recently ICAN has been involved in supplying talent for productions such as Mission Impossible 6 with Tom Cruise, A Wrinkle in Time, starring Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon, The Light Between Oceans and many others. Alongside the talent agency, Tracy has developed the ICAN School where she passes on her knowledge of the industry with Confidence and Catwalk classes, as well as hip hop classes and other workshops. Tracy is also a trustee of the Queenstown performing Arts Centre.

Tracy is married to Nick Cameron and they have two children - Neave (9) and Scout (6).
